transform your imagination into reality

we are the maker for your tech-/art project.
Our professional hands-on mentality is based in mechatronics, information technology and design to build your idea from scratch. We call it creative technology engineering and we realize your idea from one source.
No matter what, no matter where.

We are using the knowledge of academic education, industrial engineering, the passion of design and the love for art to push your desires to another level. We are aimed to improve your interface between digital and analog matrixes which are surrounding us.

Besides our engineering skills we are working true to the motto "sharing is caring". Individual workshops which are reflecting the state of the art in creative technologies are our beloved business too.

We are your laboratory, your technical institution, your helping hand. Simply your system house for almost every discipline in creative technology and tech art realization.

between happening

Between happening is a kinetic, time-based installation which has been realized for the artist carla chan. It consists of a framed screenprint and a custom-built magnetic mechanism hidden behind it. The magnet attached to the mechanism inside the frame moves iron powder printed onto the paper. The iron powder reveals the structures and outlines of a landscape. The movement induced by the magnet creates ever-changing patterns of erasing and constructing, revealing and concealing the landscape, which slowly evolves through time.

between happening

The pieces of Between happening symbolise the impact humans have on the environment. Every intervention leaves its traces behind, just like the dark iron powder leaves its traces on the print. Over time, the powder will smudge the print more and more, as the particles are dragged across the paper over and again, like pollution smudging a pristine landscape over time. The looped, mechanic movement contrasts and unites ideas of the cyclical character of life and the mechanic intervention of humans within it. This impact, however, is only revealed through time, just like the magnet reveals the impact of the iron powder on the print over time.

overmapping

As a participant of the future diversities workshop "urban diversity through participation" which was supported by the european union, we built a little art installation in Kuopio | Finnland. We've been requested to make an ongoing installation which involved the locals. After tons of concepts and ideas we finished with a nice and simple installation to help people to express themselves. We did a lot of investigations with lights and colors which are cancelling each other. To make an issue out of it we assigned a color to certain topics. It ended up with a miscellaneous mix of different layers on a huge map of Kuopio. The different layers became visible due the idea of spectral erasement and colorful mix turned out pretty structured.

new expressions in music

We've been to Johannesburg | South Africa to follow an invitation of the Goethe-Institute. We were working on concepts to the task - how to create new expression in music. Together with some professional local artists we've been part of the workshop "Future Sounds". Prepared with heaps of electronic stuff and tons of motivation we helped out to end up with a nice little project which reflects the people of Johannesburg and their deep-rooted connection to music.

Fabmobil

We decided to build a mobile Fab Lab for rural and decentralized areas in East-Germany. Why? We think it's necessary. It ended with a rented doppeldecker convertible bus and the premiere at the TINCON festival for digital youth culture in Berlin. We put 3D scanners, 3D printers, Physical Computing, a library, 360° cameras, computers, VR headsets and ourselves into it. Kids were very welcome to print there own glasses within our offered workshops and to make some 360° movies from scratch. We already put a lot of work and love in promoting the project at various occasions and we're permanently on the run to test the whole thing. Next steps: transform our own bus, full funding and keep on rollin' all the time! Keep yourself updated!

Behind the Seen

This project is based of a projection which is invisible for human eyes. The use of your smartphone camera as an auxiliary helper is necessary to get the informations visible. Technologically is this solved by controlling of an infrared laser beam with two mirrors for the vertical and horizontal deflexion.

X

Behind the Seen

Thematically is this project categorized to hidden messaging but why do we see the projection with a little of a smartphone camera? It's easy to explain. It depends on the side effect of Bayer-Filter which is attached on almost every CMOS-Sensor to reduce artifacts due to infrared light. The filter owns a transition section which allows to pass a certain wavelength of IR-light. The videos which are showing the projector in a use-case are embedded below. Additionally I've been invited to show the prototype at the IYOL 2015 closing event.

gframe

In order of the constitute design lab berlin i’ve been to Quanzhou | China to represent the gframe installation. This device is made for digital urban sketching, painting or writing. The second assigned scope of tasks has been the creation of a video clip, which reflects the the practice and the moods of the chinese audience during the event at the 14th international asia art festival 2015.

eyesect

In cooperation with the design lab the constitute and their project “eyesect – out of body apparatus”, we have made two video clips. both films are showing the use of the helmet as well as the reaction of the people after wearing. a 100% freak-out experience. Periodicly I am responsible for the maintance of the system to ensure a faultless function.

X

Airride

The custom workshop VOGTSLAMN was looking for a specialist who is able to develop a program which controls their custom-made airride suspensions. The program had to be capable of being parameterized to offer client-specific settings. Furthermore we developed a customizable display instead of an analog gauge which allows the clients to define their own kind of look in color, font and content.

UNISONO

Unisono describes the emotional state of a person which is looking for a decision. Childlike insouciance is alternating in between excessiveness and massiveness to picture the ups and downs during the entire process. Finally it ends up in a fusion to get both extremes into balance.

X

UNISONO

Besides the story which describes a emotional state has been the focus on a certain technical workflow. The task laid to work with the interfaces between different applications which allows you to combine real video footage and computer generated animations. It has been recorded within a green screen box and different camera angles. Afterwards the footage was captured into After Effects. Based on the calculated capture files it was possible to control the animated bodies. Additionally we attached sculptures to the bodies, added shadows, floors and illumination. Finally we had merged all layers to one. If you're interested in the entire production process we've made a making of which is listed below. The quality could be much nicer but depending on the year 2012 and within a university project it's quite alright.
